Windows 3.1x | Home | Top | Index | Neither Windows 3.1x nor Windows for Workgroups 3.1x includes Internet software. GIAC Members may obtain free Internet software for Windows 3.1x from the Membership Committee. GIAC is currently distributing Internet Explorer 3.02 or Netscape 4.5 (provided by the ISP). These packages provide PPP dial-up connection, e-mail service and web browser to get you started. The basic Internet applications can be replaced or upgraded, if desired, with full-featured Internet applications downloaded from vendor websites (many downloads are free) or purchased from software retailers. Windows 95 | Home | Top | Index | Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking can be configured to establish a PPP dial-up connection to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Microsoft Exchange or Outlook Express can be configured to provide basic Internet e-mail service. A version of Microsoft Internet Explorer is bundled with every version of Windows 95/98. Some versions are more capable than others, but all can be used to browse the World Wide Web and/or to download full-featured Internet applications or upgrades, if desired, from vendor websites (many downloads are free).
