2006 Art Show Adult Winners

Greenbelt artists of all ages braved the storm on Friday night of the Labor Day Festival to enter their works in the annual art shows.  The result was two great shows, with many awards given.  Over 1,000 visitors viewed the shows over the following three days.

Here are the awards that were presented on the stage on Sunday: Adult Art Show:  In the Oil/Acrylic Painting category, the lst place award went to Victoria Roach Castillo for her "Nocturne II".  Jackqueline Tull Willoughby received the 2nd place award for her "Still Life", and John Martin received the 3rd place award for his still life "Measure for Measure."

In the Water Color Painting category, the lst place award was presented to David Ralph for "Tranquility". There were two 2nd place awards: one to Rosanne Baker for her view of the "Catedral, Salamanca", and oen to Ginger Brown for her portrait "Nikky in Red Hair." The 3rd place award went to Agnes Conaty for "A Graceful Descent of Geese", as seen at Greenbelt Lake.

In the Drawings category, Nora Simon received the lst place award for her still life "Stuff From the Drawer" and Barbara McGee also received a lst place award for "Incarnation #2."   The 3rd place award went to Penny Smith for her landscape "Sunset", and the 4th place award was presented to Erika Weaver for her still life of corn and grapes, "Untitled".

In the Graphics category, which includes collages and two-dimensional mixed media works, the lst place award  went to Matt McLaughlin for his print "On the Street." There were two 2nd place awards: one to Tom Baker for his collage "Photocat" and oen to Jan Garland for her collage "Nancy II."  In Sculpture, John Norden was given the lst place award for his glass sculpture "What Is It?"  In Fine Crafrts, Eileen S. Murray received the lst place award for her "Tactile Tapestry", and the 2nd place award went to Kathy Kent for her quilt "Stop and Smell the Flowers."  There were two 3rd place awards: one to Elizabeth Morisette for "The Giving Tree" tapestry, and one to Colette Zanin for her "Bold Necklace and Earring Set."
