2006 Art Show Children's Winners

In the Children's Art Show, in the Pre-school to Age 6 group, there were many awards given.  In the Painting category Clementine Morissette received a lst place award for "King's Krown", and Kathryn Turnbull also received a lst place award for "Reflecting Flower." Elizabeth Gardner received a 2nd place award for "Splatter."  Elizabeth also received a lst place award in the Sculpture category for her ceramic work "Princess on a Throne."  John Commins received a 2nd place award for his painting "Deer Under a Tree", and Karen O'Brien received a 3rd place award for "Color Explosion".

In the Drawings and Prints category, Andrew Brewster-Geisz received a lst place award for his drawing "The Metro".  Kadin Smith also received a lst place award for his drawing "Birdhouse."  Jeremy Daniel received a 2nd place award for his block print "Building Squares" and William Peterson also received a 2nd place award for his drawing "One Hundred Colors."

In the Sculpture category for this age group, there were two other lst place award-winners besides Elizabeth Gardner:  Eileen O'Brien received a lst place award for her ceramic tea set "Tea Time", and Julian Pitts received one for his ceramic sculpture "American Chopper."

In the 7 to 10 year olds age group the following awards were given.  In Painting, Eileen O'Brien received a lst place award for "Color Sky", and Mary Commins also received a lst place award for her water color "Self-Portrait".  Mary also received a lst place award in the Drawing and Prints category for her portrait drawing of "My Sister."  Scott Candey received a 2nd place award in the Painting category for his water color "Scarce Art."  Barbara Turnbull also received a 2nd place award for her "Kitty At Sunset".  Barbara also received a 3rd place award in Sculpture for her ceramic piece titled "Pink Polka-dotted Flying Frog Head."  David Gardner received a 3rd place award in Painting for his "Giant Eye."  David also received a lst place award in Sculpture for his ceramic work "Man, Bowl and Cat." Catherine Peterson received a 3rd place award in Painting for "Ghosts In the Night."

In the Drawings and Prints category, along with Mary Commins, Jessamyn Daniel received a lst place award for her block print "FGlower's Seasons."  Claire Alexander received a 2nd place award for her drawing/collage "Weird Lobster at Beach".  James Fahey received a 3rd place award for his collage "Dragon Breathing Fire."  James also received a 3rd place award in Sculpture for his ceramic piece "Aqua Dragon."  A 3rd place award in Drawings went to Philip  Njowusi for his drawing "Empire City", and a 4th place award was given to Patty Commins for her drawing "Self-Portrait."

In the Sculpture and 3-Dimensional Works" category, there were two lst place awards: one to Mairead Alexander for her figure "Clorina", and one to David Gardner as mentioned above.  Sophie Bernheisel received a 2nd place award for her ceramic "White Bowl with Dice."  James Fahey and Barbara Turnbull received 3rd place awards as mentioned above.  A 4th place award went to Monica Venzke for her "Shell Fisher" wall sculpture.

In the 11 to 14 years old age group, the following awards were given.  In Painting, the lst place award went to Sean Murphy for his landscape "The Island." Sean also received a 2nd place award in the Drawing and Prints category for his ink drawing entitled "Radish."  In the Drawings and Prints category, Lindsey Leigh received the lst place award for her fantasy "Caribbean Mermaid."  The 3rd place award went to Elena Shipley for her "Every Little Girl's Dream." In Sculpture, Rose Commins received a lst place award for her ceramic "Blue Cup."  Kimberly Heinrich also received a lst place award  for her ceramic piece "Blue Pitcher."  Zach Bernheisel received a 2nd place award for his ceramic sculpture "80's Punk", and Reuben Cohen also received a 2nd place award for his ceramic "Brown Bowl."

In the Young People Ages 15-18 age group, Maddy Henderson received the lst place award in Painting for her water color "Mouse Alley View."  Maddy also received a 2nd place award in the Drawings and Prints category for her computer graphics work titled "Don't Make Me Use This."  In Painting, the 2nd place award went to Hope Nicholson for her water color "Self Portrait."  Hope also received a 2nd place award in the Drawing category for her view of "Chinatown."

In the Drawing category, Aaron Pixley received a lst place award for his depiction of "God of War." Corinne Tull also received a lst place award for her drawing "Still Life."  The 2nd place awards to Maddy Henderson and Hope Nicolson were mentioned above.
