Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3, 2007,
Greenbelt Maryland.

Schedule of Events.

All events will take place in the Roosevelt Center parking lots unless otherwise noted. No advance registration is required unless stated. No alcoholic beverages will be sold at the festival. City ordinances prohibit the consumption of alcoholic beverages in city parks, buildings and in the festival area.

In case of rain, stage events and some booth activities will be moved to the community center and the youth center. Carnival rides may close without refunds. For Festival Information and a Schedule, check SHL cable & cable channel 71. Carnival Directory Signs are located at the Information Booth, Upper Lot Entry & Southway/Crescent Rd. Entrance.

This schedule is subject to change without notice. No updates will be posted here during the festival.

Avoid parking problems, Ride the FREE Festival Shuttle. Vans will pick-up at parking locations at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, Greenbelt Elementary School, and Green Ridge House & deliver the riders to the Main Stage area. See Shuttle Schedule. Community Center Art Gallery. Formed and Transformed: Works by the Greenbelt Community Center Artists in Residence. Current and former Artists in Residence exhibit work which reflects the ways in which they have inspired one another. Ceramics, fiber arts, paintings and more. Community Center Exhibition Space. Sublime on a Dime - Fashions from the Great Depression to World War II. Learn about home sewing, the influence of Hollywood, the importance of accessories and ensembles, WWII and rationing, leisurewear, and children's clothes, through artifacts and historic photographs from the museum's collection. FREE. Sponsored by the Greenbelt Museum. Hours: Friday and Saturday: 9am - 10pm. Sunday: 9am - 7pm. Monday: 9am - 6pm.

Midway. Rides by Rosedale Amusements. Games, food, sale & information booths organized by Greenbelt organizations. Booths constructed and wired by Greenbelt Public Works Department. Ride tickets - $1.00; 25 for $20.00; $20.00 unlimited rides from 11:00am to 4:00 pm on Saturday or noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday. (Look for $3.00 off coupons for unlimited ride fares, and discount voucher for Labor Day Festival Ride Wristbands available in August at the Greenbelt Coop - Pay $8.00 for a voucher - turn it in at the ticket booth for a $20.00 wristband). Stage. Kick off the festival with the sound of trumpets, trombones, drums and rousing marches.

Stage. Introduction of dignitaries. National Anthem. PRESENTATION OF OUTSTANDING CITIZEN AWARD. The major civic event in Greenbelt each year, honoring all the outstanding citizens who make Greenbelt great. Sponsored by Greenbelt Rotary. Sign language interpreter on stage.

Midway. Notlim the Clown will greet children.

Fri. 7-8pm KID'S KICKBALL GAME

Braden Field #2. The future of Greenbelt's Co-Ed Adult Kickball League get their opportunity. All children are welcome to play. Sponsored by Greenbelt Recreation Department.

Braden Field #2. "KICK" off your Labor Day weekend with a good old game of kickball. All adults are welcome to play. The under-30 crowd will square off against the over-30 crowd. Sponsored by Greenbelt Recreation Department.

Fri. 8-8:30pm MACBETH: LIFE ON THE HEATH

Greenbelt Arts Center. Don't say it, just see it! This adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy is so fresh, it's liable to get slapped! Directed by P. Ryan Anthony and produced by Gretchen Jacobs. Free. Sponsored by: Greenbelt Arts Center and Celtic Dog Productions. Repeated Saturday and Sunday at 5pm and 7pm.

Stage. Stoked will ROCK the stage with hard-driving songs from the 70s to now. If you like Aerosmith, Van Halen and AC/DC, you'll love this Frederick Maryland band!

Greenbelt Arts Center. Two young women meet a friendly bear, an extremely cranky grasshopper and other fantastic beings that live in the forest. Adapted by P. Midway. The Central Maryland Amateur Radio Club (CMARC) and the Prince George's Amateur Radio Club (PGARC) of MD will operate a Greenbelt Labor Day Festival Special Event Radio Station, WC3MAR. Contact other stations throughout North America or even around the world! Also open Sun. noon-8pm.

Braden Field #2. Registration 9 am – 12 noon. 8 pitches or 6 swings. You provide your own pitcher, balls provided. Entry fee $5.00. Winner receives 40%; 2nd Place 10%; David Craig Memorial Fund 50%.

Stage. Groove to the Island energy and cool Caribbean sounds of Sam'O. His repertoire includes reggae, soca, calypso, rhythm & blues, ballads, dance music, party music, gospel and more.

Stage. Members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Legendary Orioles fuse traditional pop songs with gospel style and arrange blues and gospel material with smooth harmonies, resulting in a style that appeals to a wide audience range. This a capella group sounds as refreshing and unique as when they started singing more than 50 years ago.

Crescent Rd. The 53rd Annual Labor Day Parade will entertain you with a variety of groups, demonstrate our community spirit, and accentuate our diverse cultural backgrounds. There will be Floats, Bands, Bagpipes, Firetrucks, Color Guards, Smokey Bear, Community Organizations and the Miss Greenbelt participants. The Grand Marshall is Greenbelt's Outstanding Citizen. Sign language interpreter at the Reviewing Stand across from the Municipal Building. Parade Route: Down Crescent Rd from Greenhill to Centerway. Parade is marshalled by the Central Maryland Amateur Radio Club (CMARC) and Prince George's Amateur Radio Club (PGARC) of MD.
