The Labor Day Art Shows will take place in the Greenbelt Community Center as part of the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival.  There are two shows: one for adults, and one for children and teens. This popular event gives Greenbelt artists of all ages and abilities the opportunity to acquaint the community with their work! The Labor Day Art Shows take place in the Greenbelt Community Center as part of the
annual Greenbelt Labor Day Festival.  There are 2 shows: one for adults, & one for children
& teens.  This is the 54th year of this popular event, which gives Greenbelt artists of all ages
& abilities the opportunity to share their work with the community.  If you have any questions, call Barbara Simon at (301) 474-2192.
 
1) Children & teen participants must live or go to school in Greenbelt, or have parents or grandparents who  live, go to school or work in Greenbelt.
2) Adult participants (19 years +) must live, work, or go to school in Greenbelt, Beltsville,
    Berwyn Heights, College Park, Glenn Dale, Lanham, New Carrollton, Riverdale, or
    Seabrook. 
3) Art work must be submitted on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 5:00-7:00 PM, or on Friday,
    Aug. 29, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, or 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Community Center.
    Registration forms are filled out at the time of submission.
4) All art work must:
    a) be completely original in design & conception.
    b) never have been shown in previous Labor Day Festival Art Shows.
    c) be ready for display: adult two-dimensional works should be framed with wires
        attached for hook. Children & teens’ 2-dimensional works should be mounted or
        matted but need not be framed.
5) All adult participants become members of this year’s Greenbelt Labor Day Festival
    Art Shows Committee & are required to help with either hanging the shows Friday,
    August 29, after 7:00 PM, or by sitting one hour during the shows.  Be ready to sign
    up when work is submitted.
6) The shows are open to the public Saturday, August 30, from 1:00-6:00 PM; Sunday,
    August 31, from 1:00-6:00 PM; & Monday, Sept. 1, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM,
    & from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM.
7) The Greenbelt Labor Day Festival Committee, GAVA, the City of Greenbelt, & any of
    their volunteers/staff, are not responsible for the shows.  Every effort will be made to
    protect the shows during open hours, using volunteers to sit as explained in instruction #5.
8) Entries will be judged by a professional artist, & awards are given in each category for
    adults, children & teens, depending on the discretion of the judge.  The Cipriano Awards
    are given in both shows for works on the theme “Americans at Work”.  Awards are
    presented on stage on Monday, Sept. 1, at 1:00 after the parade.
9) Entries & awards must be retrieved from 4:00-6:00 PM on Monday, Sept. 1.  The
    Committee is not responsible for unclaimed art work.  Please do not pick up your work
    before 4:00.  Awards not picked up will be forfeited.
10)If you are interested in selling your work, please indicate this on your registration form so  
     that we can give out your contact information.
11) Art work may be rejected for shows by Art Show organizers if not in keeping with the spirit of the shows.
