Watkins Regional Park, Upper Marlboro
Features:   Old Maryland Farm, large playground with lots of equipment, carousel and train rides (summer only), picnic tables and grills.
Directions:   Take Beltway to Central Avenue (Rte 214). Follow Rte 214 through Largo then go right on Enterprise Road. For an easy ride, take 193 and cruise down about 20 minutes,the park is almost immediate on the right after 214 intersection.

Wheaton Regional Park, Wheaton
Features:   Large playground with lots of equipment, carousel and train rides (summer only), picnic tables and grills.
Directions:   Take Beltway to Georgia Avenue north, then go right on Shorefield Road.

Greenbelt Park, Greenbelt
Features:   Woods, short hiking trails, playground equipment at Sweetgum picnic area, picnic tables and grills.
Directions:   Greenbelt Park is just off Greenbelt Rd, near Kenilworth Avenue.

Buddy Attick Park, Greenbelt
Features:   Picturesque lake with shady paths through the woods (not a great surface for pushing strollers, but possible), plenty of playground equipment, picnic tables and grills. Concert and fireworks on 4th July.
Directions:   From Kenilworth Avenue, turn onto Crescent Rd (opposite the Ivy Lane Industrial Park) and look for the park entrance on your right.

Lake Artemesia
, College Park
Features:   Picturesque lake with good paths for pushing strollers. No shade in summer, but there are several gazebos overlooking the lake.
Directions:   From Greenbelt Rd, near the Beltway Plaza, follow signs taking you along Branchville Rd to the park entrance.

Bowie Allen Pond
, Bowie
Features:   Picturesque lake with good paths for pushing strollers, plenty of playground equipment, sandbox, paddle boat rental (summer only), picnic tables and grills.
Directions:   Follow Rte 50 East to Bowie, then take exit 11 to Rte 197 South (Collington Rd). Go right on Northview Drive, and the park entrance is 1 mile on right.

Gravelly Point Park
, Arlington, VA
Features:   Grassy place to sit, just south of National Airport, where you can watch the planes landing right over your head.
Directions:   Drive north on George Washington Parkway, first exit after airport.
