Community Church Collects Items for Strangers Near and Far
    Greenbelt Interfaith News

Greenbelt Community Church is in no danger of running out of activities during the holiday season. "We're collecting perfumes, toiletries, and personal care items through December 5 for distribution to battered women in area shelters," says the Rev. Daniel Hamlin, pastor of the church. "We're also receiving gifts through December 21 for poor and homeless children in the Metro area. Scarves, hats, gloves, books, art supplies, and ‘comfort toys' are especially appreciated. Last year we filled a nine-passenger van."

The Community Church is also sending cards and care packages to military men and women serving in Bosnia, and on top of that, it is providing pens, pencils, paper, coloring books, scissors, books (in any language), and small toys for children in war-torn Bosnia. And when the church members have finished catching their breaths, they may be able to squeeze in a few moments to hang the Christmas greens.
